It’s estimated that Patmos island has in excess of over 400 churches. Many are private and closed to the public. They are only open during their saint day when a priest comes to perform a liturgy. As the oldest church located on the island of Patmos near Kampos, the Church of Saint Nicholas of Evdimos, which overlooks Nicholas Bay is a must-see. On the main road from Pano Kambos to Kato Kambos is this small church. Just up from the beach, it is one of the oldest churches on the island, with the sanctuary and bell tower date from the early 1800s.
