DESCRIPTION:Ένα από τα μεγαλύτερα πανηγύρια της Φολεγάνδρου είναι αυτό που γίνεται την ημέρα της γιορτής του Αγίου Παντελεήμονα. Κάθε χρόνο στήνεται μεγάλο γλέντι στο λευκό κυκλαδίτικο ομώνυμο εκκλησάκι και στις πέτρινες πλάκες της αυλής του χορεύουν ντόπιοι και επισκέπτες με θέα τη θάλασσα. Η ιστορία του τόπου θέλει τους κατοίκους  της Άνω Μεριάς Φολεγάνδρου να οικοδομούν την εκκλησία του Αγίου Παντελεήμονα το 1838. Αν και μέχρι τότε στο σημείο υπήρχε ένα εικονοστάσι οι Ανωμερίτες αποφάσισαν να χτίσουν την εκκλησία μετά από προτροπή συγχωριανού τους που ισχυρίστηκε ότι ο Άγιος τον επισκεπτόταν στα όνειρά του. Παρόλες τις δυσκολίες που τους παρουσιάστηκαν, όλες ξεπεράστηκαν ως εκ θαύματος! Στη γιορτή που γίνεται προς τιμήν του Αγίου Παντελεήμονα θα ακούσετε νησιώτικα από ντόπιους μουσικούς και θα δοκιμάσετε τοπικούς μεζέδες.\n(photo credits: folegandros.gr)\n \nOne day before the celebration of St. Panteleimon, a fest takes place on the nearby island of Chiliomodi. Early in the afternoon, small kaikia (boats) leave the harbor of Skala and go to Chiliomodi taking the faithful and visitors. They watch and take part in the evening hymn service (Esperinos), usually conducted by the Abbot of Patmos, at the picturesque chapel of St. Panteleimon . After, the celebration continuous at a small taverna with music, dance and wonderful food.\n\nThe fest of St. Panteleimon on the island of Chiliomodi, is an outstanding event and gathers many visitors who are interested in traditional and religious ceremonies. The backdrop of the deep blue sea against beautiful natural scenery, along with feasting and great food makes it one of the most prominent events.\n \n \n \nSource.
